Uso de neutrófilos em doentes com cancro?

Injecção por algumas semanas cura? Vai ser testado:
https://www.iol.co.za/lifestyle/health/new-cancer-treatment-using-cancer-survivor-cells-12139127

Citando:
"A radical radical  new cancer treatment inspired by patients who seem to ‘shrug off’ the disease could be tested next year.

The technique uses potent cancer-killing cells from people with the strongest immune systems.

These ‘neutrophil’ cells – which form part of the body’s first line of defence – are then multiplied millions of times and injected into cancer patients.

They are believed to be a key reason why rare individuals spontaneously reject lethal cancers and seem to have ‘miracle recoveries’."
(...)
"But when they do target cancer, they are highly efficient – wiping out 95 percent of test cancer cells in 24 hours. It is neutrophils with this ability that form the basis of the new therapy.

The Lift team has collected thousands of the cells discarded as a waste product by blood banks, and is mass-screening them for their cancer-killing potential in a laboratory.

Those that pass the test are cultured and multiplied many times over using a secret process. The researchers are also working on a way of altering them to become even more potent."

Citando:
"igher consumption of potatoes (whether fried, boiled, baked, or mashed) is associated with an increased risk of high blood pressure, according to a study published in the British Medical Journal.

The research suggests that replacing one daily serving of potatoes with other, non-starchy vegetables could reduce the risk of developing hypertension.

The researchers, from Harvard Medical School in the US, followed over 187,000 men and women from three large US studies for more than 20 years. They measured dietary intake, including frequency of potato consumption, with a questionnaire. Blood pressure was measured by a health professional."

Café e fígado?

http://www.newsnation.in/lifestyle/health-and-fitness/consumption-of-coffee-may-reduce-liver-diseases-risk-says-report-article-186647.html

Citando:
"Drinking coffee regularly may reduce the risk of liver cancer and cirrhosis, according to the latest report.

According to a report presented at the Royal Society of Medicine in London, the risk of liver cancer can be reduced with up to a 40 per cent with coffee consumption as compared to no coffee consumption, although this appears to be a dose-dependent relationship.

Also, that reduced risk is measured between 25 percent and 70 percent for cirrhosis.

Graeme Alexander, from the University College London in the UK, said, "Liver disease is on the rise and it is important that we understand how coffee, one of the most popular drinks in the world, and diet affect the disease", said."

https://health.spectator.co.uk/low-salt-diet-as-effective-as-drugs-for-hypertension/

Citando:
"A low-salt diet combined with the DASH diet (The Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) substantially lowers systolic blood pressure – the top number in a blood pressure test – according to new research published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

The DASH diet is rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains, along with low-fat or fat-free dairy, fish, poultry, beans, seeds and nuts.

The study was designed to examine the effects of combining the two diets in adults with early or modest forms of high blood pressure – those considered to be at greatest risk of developing more severe forms of hypertension known to increase the likelihood of stroke, kidney disease, heart attacks and heart failure."

https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/features/can-you-get-a-tan-and-absorb-vitamin-d-through-a-window-a6895626.html

Citando:
"The sun emits ultraviolet (UV) A, UVB, and UVC rays. The latter is the most damaging, but is filtered by the atmosphere and doesn’t reach the earth’s surface.

Vitamin D is produced by the body when the skin is hit by UVB rays, with 7-dehydrocholesterol being the resulting chemical. But most glass windows block this wavelength meaning you can't reap the health benefits.

(...)
A 2010 US study into skin cancer found that people who spend a lot of time driving a car each week are more likely to develop skin cancers on the left side of the body – which is the window side in North American cars.

Data on 1,000 patients showed that 74 per cent of patients with malignant melanoma, an aggressive form of skin cancer, had tumours on their left sides, according to the study by researchers at the St Louis University, the New York Times reported."

https://www.tribunaonline.com.br/estudo-aponta-que-tomar-banho-todos-os-dias-pode-fazer-mal-a-saude/

Citando:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/item/a3cc65e5-c8e7-4d03-b6a1-23eb638daf6e

Citando:
"The constant bad news about sugar has suddenly got to me. There are stats showing that sugar consumption is at its highest level in history. The government is trying to get the food industry to cut the amount of sugar in popular products like chocolate bars by 20% by 2020.

I realise that I am the average UK adult, who consumes at least 15 teaspoons of sugar a day. (This may sound a lot, but there are seven teaspoons in just one fizzy drink can.) The World Health Organisation recommends eating just six.

A high-sugar diet is linked to obesity, and being overweight can increase the risk of getting Type 2 diabetes.A 2014 study found that there is a much higher risk of dying from cardiovascular disease among people who get a lot of their calories from added sugar."
