Avanços na distinção entre cancros da próstata agressivos e os não agressivos

Uns "tratam-se" (e deixam muitas pessoas incontinentes ou impotentes) outros "deixam-se andar". Por isso convém saber quais são quais:

Citando:
"Professor Vincent Moulton, co-author on the study said experts are trying to group cancers which show common traits in a bid to improve classification of tumours.

"These were categorised by low expression of a core set of 45 genes, many encoding proteins involved in the structure of cells, transport of ions (charged molecules) and cell adhesion,” he said.

“This was common across the samples of cancers known to have a poor patient prognosis."

The research is reported in the journal European Urology Focus."

Citando:
"After an in-depth review of the scientific data, researchers found the most heart-healthy diet includes foods like extra-virgin olive oil, antioxidant-rich berries, green leafy vegetables, plant-based proteins, nuts in moderation and can include lean meats. To cut down on cholesterol, the study authors suggest limiting or eliminating coconut and palm oils, which are high in saturated fatty acids, and eggs, which raise the level of cholesterol in the bloodstream.

"Dietary requirements haven’t really changed," Freeman continued. "The diet that is most cardioprotective is mostly plant based ... predominantly fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and limited amounts of animal products if any.""

Citando:
"Although the researchers did not find a heightened dementia risk for individuals who had been sleeping for nine hours or more a night for more than 13 years, they noticed an increased risk for those who recently started to sleep for more than nine hours.

The researchers found that new long-sleepers have an increased likelihood of developing dementia. Those who recently started to sleep for more than nine hours were found to have a 20 percent increased likelihood of being diagnosed with the neurological condition. They also appeared to have smaller brain volumes."

As 12 bactérias mais perigosas do mundo

... de acordo com a OMS:

A lista:
http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2017/bacteria-antibiotics-needed/en/

Citando:
"The most critical group of all includes multidrug resistant bacteria that pose a particular threat in hospitals, nursing homes, and among patients whose care requires devices such as ventilators and blood catheters. They include AcinetobacterPseudomonas and various Enterobacteriaceae (including KlebsiellaE. coliSerratia, and Proteus). They can cause severe and often deadly infections such as bloodstream infections and pneumonia.

These bacteria have become resistant to a large number of antibiotics, including carbapenems and third generation cephalosporins – the best available antibiotics for treating multi-drug resistant bacteria.

The second and third tiers in the list – the high and medium priority categories – contain other increasingly drug-resistant bacteria that cause more common diseases such as gonorrhoea and food poisoning caused by salmonella."
