"The report, which has been hailed as a ‘game-changer’ shows eating fatty food can cause cause aggressive cancer to spread - a process called metastasis.
During the research, mice were given a high fat diet, including palmitic acid - a major component of palm oil which is found in lots of household products.
A study, which was partly funded by UK charity Worldwide Cancer Research, has identified for the first time a specific protein called CD36 on cancer cells which have the ability to spread.
CD36, found in the cell membranes of tumour cells, is responsible for taking up fatty acids"
