The research, by diet experts at the University of Bergen in Norway, studied obese men with a diet high in either carbohydrates or fat and measured the amount of fat in the abdominal region, liver and heart along with a number of key risk factors for heart disease and conditions like diabetes.
“The very high intake of total and saturated fat did not increase the calculated risk of cardiovascular diseases,” says professor and cardiologist Ottar Nygard."
