Regra dos 5 segundos (comida no chão) parece válida

"He commented: “Eating food that has spent a few moments on the floor can never be entirely risk free.

"Obviously, food covered in visible dirt shouldn’t be eaten, but as long as it’s not obviously contaminated, the science shows that food is unlikely to have picked up harmful bacteria from a few seconds spent on an indoor floor.

“That is not to say that germs can’t transfer from the floor to the food.

"Our research has shown that the nature of the floor surface, the type of food dropped on the floor and the length of time it spends on the floor can all have an impact on the number that can transfer.”"

A confirmação do que se suspeitava: Double-dipping? Nooooo!

"Research conducted by Harvard University’s Healthbeat journal has found that bacterial counts in dips surged after a person took a bite from a crisp and then dipped it back in again.
And the number of bacteria varied with the particular dip – with salsa harbouring way more bacteria after a double-dipping incident than cheese or chocolate sauces.
‘This research does raise the possibility that a person who is sick might spread a disease by re-dipping a chip,’ says the journal’s editor, Dr Robert Shmerling."

Germes e Diabetes Tipo 1 - Estudo

http://m.food.ndtv.com/health/germs-may-cause-type-1-diabetes-study-1407215

Citando:
"Germs may play a role in the development of type 1 diabetes by triggering the body's immune system to destroy the cells that produce insulin, new research by a team from Cardiff University  suggests. Scientists have previously shown that killer T-cells, a type of white blood cell that normally protects us from germs, play a major part in type 1 diabetes by destroying insulin producing cells, known as beta cells."
