Implantes mamários e cancro (EUA)?

https://www.foxnews.com/health/fda-alerts-doctors-of-rare-cancer-with-breast-implants

Citando:
" The earliest signs of the disease are usually lumps, swelling and pain around the breasts. Patients will often seek care from their primary physicians, gynecologists or other health practitioners, rather than a plastic surgeon, FDA noted.

"Having everyone informed about this is in the best interest of the patient," said FDA spokeswoman Stephanie Caccomo.

The cancer usually grows slowly and most patients are treated with surgery to remove the implant.

The FDA has been tracking reports of the cancer for years and officially confirmed its link to breast implants in 2017. The latest update comes as health experts around the world attempt to gauge the cancer's frequency and whether extra restrictions are warranted on certain types of breast implants. The FDA is holding a two-day meeting next month on the safety of breast implants."

http://www.nhs.uk/news/2017/02February/Pages/Exercise-most-proven-method-to-prevent-return-of-breast-cancer.aspx

Citando:
"The researchers' review of evidence found that physical activity had the strongest reported effect on reducing the risk of breast cancer recurring and dying from breast cancer.

Following the recommended 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise per week guidance, as well as two to three weekly sessions of strength training, can help reduce the risk of breast cancer returning and death from the disease.

The effects of treatments such as surgery and chemotherapy can take a toll on motivation to exercise. But clinical guidelines recommend a gradual return to regular exercise."

Should You Get Tested for the Breast Cancer Genes? - Scientific American

Should You Get Tested for the Breast Cancer Genes? - Scientific American

Citando:

"The mostly common involved and most familiar breast cancer genes are the BRCA-1 and BRCA-2 genes. This sort of gene testing can be performed on blood, saliva, or even cheek swabbing.  The challenge? Hundreds of genes involving these two mutations have been discovered. Therefore, obtaining a complete test for all involved possibilities can cost up to 4,000 dollars. If patients meet certain criteria, however, insurance may cover up to 90% of the testing cost. What may be less costly and more simple, however, is if you already have an identified gene in another relative, in which testing can be more targeted and therefore much less costly."

Citando:
"Many survivors of breast cancers that are sensitive to estrogen are advised to take hormone-suppressing drugs such as tamoxifen for five years, to cut their odds for a recurrence.
Tamoxifen can have onerous side effects, however. Now, new research finds that taking an alternative, and less troublesome, class of medications for a full decade can reduce the risk for recurrence even more -- without affecting a woman's quality of life.
The newer class of hormone-suppressing drugs are called aromatase inhibitors, and include drugs such as letrozole (Femara), anastrozole (Arimidex) and exemestane (Aromasin)."

Terapia de hormonas por 10 anos em vez de 5 (estudo Cancro Mama)

Um estudo vantajoso para... As farmacêuticas e não só?

http://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/jun/05/breast-cancer-drugs-decade-study-aromatase-inhibitors

Citando:
"Women should be offered 10 years of drugs to prevent the return of breast cancer, rather than five as now, according to a major study showed longer-term treatment reduced the numbers whose disease came back.
Huge numbers of women in the UK and around the world are already taking hormone therapy – drugs that block oestrogen in the body that can fuel breast cancer growth. Many abandon them within the first few years because of the side-effects or because they feel well and do not want to be on medication."
